Regenerative farming and sustainability is at our core.
From our Soil to Our Birds.
We use regenerative farming practices to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship. This means we focus on restoring soil health, enhancing biodiversity, and improving ecosystems. Together, these lead to more resilient agricultural methods and higher-quality food products.
We do this by creating as much as possible a form of ‘circular’ farming. What might be considered as waste from one farm enterprise is used a valuable input to another farm enterprise. Some examples are:
Use of our poultry litter as fertiliser for our farmland that is used to grow our grass and crops.
The straw that is harvested from our tillage crops is used as bedding for the chickens and turkeys.
We leave our hedgerows to their own devices. These provide excellent natural shelter for our cattle.
We have a fantastic variety of wild birds and animals on our farm.
We’re reducing our Carbon Footprint. By taking big steps.
We also have a wide range of sustainability initiatives to lower our carbon footprint.
-
We grow and process our poultry on our farm site.
This is unusual for a business of our size, but it greatly reduces our food miles for our poultry. So we know that it is worth it.
-
We utilise our farmland smartly.
A key metric for regenerative farming is the non-disturbance of soil through ploughing. Each year, about 85% of our land is grazed, fertilised, rolled and its hay harvested with no disturbance to the soil.
-
We reuse our poultry litter as natural fertilizer.
It’s nutrient rich, adds organic matter, and helps with waste management. What’s more, it enhances soil microbial life naturally – improving yields.
-
We practise other farm enterprises.
Alongside our poultry farming, we also have a wonderful herd of Galloway cattle. We rotate these through the idle poultry paddocks. This allows the grass to be maintained, the weeds under control and offers the soil some natural fertilisation, alongside a reduced usage of chemicals on our farm. In the winter time sheep are used to graze the farmland used for the production of hay.

We're reducing our carbon footprint.
In Spring 2025 we installed a solar panel system on our buildings. We are looking forward to gathering the metrics on how this is reducing the electricity we draw from the grid. This is just one of many steps that displays full commitment to reducing our Carbon Footprint.
